There are a lot of guys that have problems to make their calves look bigger and therefore they blame their bad genetics. However, the truth is that they don’t train them enough. Sure, there are some people who have truly bad genetics in this muscle sectionnbut most of the guys just need more direct work on the calves. They just expect big difference only by doing squats or other exercise that have only little effect on them. So if your calves are lagging the best way to train them is with those two exercise on each of your workouts or once in two workouts (depends on your routine). Another thing to do is to do intansity and volume workouts. You rotate those two, first day you do heavy weights and 8-10 reps for set and on the next training session you will train with less weights and 18-21 reps.
What people should know about calves:
They are separated in 3 sections – gastrocnemius, soleus and tibialis anterior. Gastrocnemius is the meadial head and the lateral head of th muscles. They are the most visible from the three. It is best seen when standing up. Soleus is helping you to stand up from seated position. Tibialis Anterior is the smallest one and is infront of your legs. Soleus is trained when you are sitting and the other two when you are standing.
