My main motivation for losing weight and getting fit was my daughter.
At my heaviest, I weighed 107kg. I was so embarrassed about my weight and being out in public that I avoided taking her to the park and other kids play areas. I’d often ask my sister or my mom to take her.
The day I decided I needed to change the way I was eating and living was when she was 4 years old.
I had her taken to the park with my sister but stayed by the bench while they played on the swings.
My daughter kept calling me to come over and push her but I refused because I was so self conscious about my size. The look of disappointment on her face will stay with me forever. That day I decided to get serious about losing weight, and I never looked back.
My routine typically starts with either eggs or oats for breakfast depending on what workout I have planned for the day.
I keep to a low carb diet for 2 days then a high carb diet every 3rd day.
On low carb days I opt for salads with lots of raw vegetables and some form of vegetarian protein such as tofu, quorn, soya or quinoa.
On high carb days I enjoy experimenting with sweet potatoes, cous cous, oats, and brown rice.
Sweet food is my nemesis so I’ve put together a few recipes which are sweet but still clean, such as baked oats and protein bars which I make myself.
I love strength training. My current goal is to get stronger and lift heavier. My passion is to help women understand that weight training will not make them turn into Arnold Schwarzenegger! I love working with women to show them how weight training and eating clean can transform their bodies.
My favourite form of cardio is indoor cycling. I aim to do a class about 3 times a week.
