Dima Per went through something that changed his life. When he broke with his long term relationship girlfriend he decided to make a 360 degree turn of his lifestyle. In the last article we gave an example of how difficult is for skinny guy to gain weight (read the story of Phill Goodall). This time we will show you the other point of view. Read the story of Dima Per and learn what he went trough to lose weight.
“My personal transformation story have started around the end of 2015 when I got out from an LTR (long term relationship) and like many others in a similar point of a life, I have decided to open a new chapter and make some changes in all aspects of my life. We all know that many guys who are in a long term relationship don’t take care about themselves and it was precisely my personal case for the last years until late 2015. Also after doing some medical tests and seeing a doctor shortly after, I was unfortunately informed that I already have some over-weigh issues and some of the parameters like cholesterol, sugar and others need my immediate attention + action.
And so my first “official” step was to start with a gradual change of my eating habits and doing a little bit of sports when the main goal was to lose weight. It was extremely hard and painful both psychologically and physically to cut down on carbs, stopping eating sweets in an excessive manner and in general make the switch to eating only healthy food as an alternative. Instead of eating pizza, hamburgers, ice-cream and other junk food I have started eating things like: salad, eggs, nuts, figs, many fruits, vegetables and so on… I also stopped eating meat every day and started doing some walking + slow running after work and on weekends. It is important to state here that it wasn’t a diet of some sort and I hadn’t forced myself to starve, I simply started eating healthy as it is.
After a while I was extremely happy to know and feel that my appetite got lower than before and one of the reasons apparently is that my stomach gradually shrinked. The hardest and the most challenging thing was and it is surely relevant today is to keep and maintain the healthy food style of living on a constant basis, day after day and month after month even when you don’t see or feel any apparent physical change whatsoever. Due to the fact that my body type is an endomorph I have a natural tendency to gain weight easily and so I had and must constantly today stay away from junk food and monitor exactly what I am eating at a given moment. It is in fact “the big” secret to how people who are natural endomorphs, able to be in a great shape constantly, for a long period of time and without damaging own health. The well-known fitness success formula: 80% nutrition, 20% sports definitely applies here.
After losing approximately 20 kg of fat, my next goal has become to gain some muscle mass instead, and so I have started going to the gym while maintaining the healthy nutrition style of life with an addition of drinking protein as well. Today based on my day to day experience and feeling I can surely state that the sacrifice is definitely worth it. My personal belief was and it is today, is that when you sacrifice a limited number of seconds of a good taste in a mouth (like after eating pizza for example) for a healthy food (that is also very very tasty!) and a healthy way of eating, the personal gain is absolutely enormous in every aspect of life. There are many well-known advantages to a healthy way of life and eating healthy in particular, because as the saying states… We are derives from what we eat.
Personally it was a huge satisfaction to experience and feel every step of the so-called transformation, just to name a few… My self-confidence has increased enormously, I feel much more energy and capable of being much more productive at work, studying and surely in personal life as well, I feel like I am in a harmony with my own body and I feel like my body “appreciates the efforts” and is grateful to me, and finally I feel like I am capable of everything because as the saying states: “If you know your enemy (or challenge in particular) and know yourself you will win in every battle you will have” Sun-Tzu, art of war.”
