There is a common trend in the fitness industry that everybody will have witnessed at some point, or one that they maybe even dished out unto others. I know I have been guilty of it in my younger years.
What am I talking about? This crazy trend of judging beginners or people with less experience than yourself. Yes, it will always exist to some degree, but imagine if your actions could help steer the tide in the right direction.
Training around people who appreciate your efforts will always spur you on to continue, but having a negative reaction to other people’s fitness journey is only going to make them want to quit. You don’t have to congratulate everybody in the gym but you also don’t have to be a hater.
Remember when you started
When you first stepped foot in a gym, do you remember how inexperienced you felt or how much self-doubt you had? Well those beginners that you see daily- whether they haven’t reached their destination yet or perhaps they haven’t made the same amount of progress as you, these issues were ‘once upon a time’ very real to your situation.
Therefore it is so important to remember that everybody is in the gym for the same reason, they want to improve just like you do. They don’t turn up to be laughed at or filmed so you can mock their mistakes on your social media channels, just like you don’t expect to be treat like that.
The industry is the biggest it has ever been and many fantastic things are happening, so let’s use all the tools that are available to us and help each other improve.
